Do something you enjoy: Have a laugh!

Updated: Dec 19, 2018

Improving your sense of well-being is typically associated with a lot of seriousness like gyms and meditation. As the saying goes: No pain, no gain – right?

Which is exactly why so many gym memberships lapse and people don’t persist doing things that would be “good” for them. After all, why add to the stress and demands of a busy day when you could be doing something you enjoy?

This is where Laughter Yoga may offer an enjoyable, yet beneficial alternative. As Dr Madan Kataria, the creator of this unique concept, often reminds us (and I am paraphrasing here): Laughter yoga is about childlike playfulness!

  • Yes, we do exercises that combine breathing elements you may know from yoga.

  • Yes, we do laugh and give our diaphragm and cardio system a good workout.

  • No, we are not “funny” – there are no jokes or comedy involved.

  • No, we don’t always feel like laughing, we just laugh for the sake of it.

Authentic laughter is not a requirement to harness the benefits of laughter yoga (e.g. feeling more positive, creative) – even fake laughter will do.

Until then: keep playing and laughing
